Job Summary
Position Scope: The PLM, LLC. Manufacturing Manager is a senior manager in a company that produces frozen novelty products. The individual's key accountability is to ensuring goods are made efficiently and at lowest possible cost without compromising team member’s safety or product quality and safety. The ideal candidate is highly dedicated, dynamic and experienced operations leader to serve as our Manufacturing manager in our processing facility. Their normal work environment frequently shifts from offices to the manufacturing floor. This manager also helps diagnose any customer concerns brought to their attention by the customer service department; they also help implement new products and designs from the company's R&D department.
Essential functions

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Overall responsible for plant production including coordination between departments to ensure that all production goals are met.

  2. Ensure the highest standards of quality, product safety, and employee safety are maintained at all times in the facility.

  3. Maintain an effective network of communication to ensure all shifts are kept current with strategic and operational goals for the company.

  4. Act as a conduit to provide feedback to Plant Manager and Leadership Team on changes of processes and procedures and how they impact the products and employees on the front lines.

  5. Coordinate, attend and maintain effective and efficient production meetings and shift exchanges, as required, to meet overall business goals.

  6. Work with departmental leaders to influence and lead change that will improve individual, team and business performance.

  7. Partner with Plant Manager and Human Resources on talent management, performance reviews, and talent acquisition.

  8. Provides training and coaching to production team leaders and members to ensure all are appropriately trained for their respective assignments.

  9. Ensure all standards and best manufacturing practices are in place and accurate with Standard Operation Procedures, Written Instructions, and Troubleshooting Guides.

  10. Encourage a continuous learning environment for departmental leaders by staying current with the latest technologies and processes in the industry.

  11. Build relationships of trust and has a clear point of view informed by own insights, business acumen, best practices, and industry trends.

  12. Responsible for financial operations of the plant with ownership of assigned accounts and insurance of production is operating within conversion standards.

  13. Manage, track and effectively communicate key performance indicators (KPIs), that indicate production performance.

  14. Coordinate with Leadership team and reporting team cause analysis of discrepancies along with solutions to help eliminate identified mistakes or misses in performance.

  15. Coordinate with R&D to commercialize customer projects and support business objectives and strategies to drive growth.

  16. Maintain the facility in an audit-ready state for customers or regulatory agencies.

  17. Facilitate the use and inclusion of Lean Manufacturing processes and tools to drive performance.

  18. Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws for all direct reports.

  19. Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work, coaching, appraising performance, and training, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

 

 

Performance of the company in meeting identified responsibilities is evaluated on Effective Team Building; the Cost-Effectiveness of the production; Safety and Regulatory Compliance of the manufacturing process; On time service and quality of the product to the customer.

 

Physical Requirements

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites con be loud.

 

Qualification

 

REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS, and SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

  1. B.S. or M.S. in Food Science, Food Engineering or related field.

  2. Minimum 15 years of product development experience in the food manufacturing industry

  3. Familiar with Lean Manufacturing methodologies.

  4. Experience with frozen dairy and specialty treats is preferred.

  5. Ability to interact with integrity and a high level of professionalism with all levels of employees and management.

  6. Ability to assess issues, make quick decisions, implement solutions, and influence change.

  7. Strong project management skills.

  8. Proven track record of successfully leading the work of others and working with the cross-functional team.

  9. Mature, enthusiastic, motivated team member.

  10. Effective written and oral communication skills. Must be PC literate; able to support the development of effective processes and systems to manage departmental objectives.

  11. Excellent work ethic with proven ability to effectively balance multiple priorities.

  12. Creative problem-solving skills and an orientation towards innovation.

  13. Entrepurnerual and Profit-oriented.
